The hallway transitions from the front entrance through the rest of the cottage. The window, open plan design and skylight add lots of light even on the darkest winter day and offers a love view.
The front door leads to and from the front landscape (which gets the morning sun) with a handy bench placed by the front door, perfect for morning coffee in the summer. Or enjoy the perfect quite on one of the reclining lawn chairs also placed conveniently to the front door.
The hallway decor compliments the rest of the cottage and ties together the different elements. The front door is draped with a traditional Highland door covering – designed by ourselves and selected from Knocando Woollen Mill Strathspey Range, appropriately called ‘Ben Rinnes’. Knockando Woollen Mill is only two km’s from Glenarder.
You will find in the hallway a good supply of locally sourced and dried wood for the fire as well as a nice supply of outside blankets, a cozy block against any chill in the air.

The living room reflects its environment in the Scottish Highlands. It is designed with practicality and comfort in mind and welcomes you to relax on the plush tweed settee, read a book, watch TV, enjoy a wee dram by the fire maybe. The furniture is an eclectic mix of collected pieces from our travels such as rugs from Azerbaijan. Hand made wood pieces from Canada and selected pieces from Scottish design companies such as Johnston’s of Elgin, Timorous Beasties and Knockando Woolen mill.
There is a wide range of books, reading materials and movies. Extra throw blankets to get cozy with and lots of cushions to keep you comfortable.
The view from the lounge looks over the garden, the open fields and toward beautiful Ben Rinnes. Watch it glow pink as the sun rises and sets.
